The Salmon Arts Council sponsors a variety of recurring and community oriented programs throughout the year. More details for some of our big events are listed on the Events pages. Spring 2011

March 3-4, 2011: University of Montana Western Polynesian Dance Group, time and place TBA. There will be a school show for kids ages k-12 in the Highschool Gym. See the Winter 2011 page for more info.

Fall 2010

December 1-31, 2010: Salmon Valley Photo Show, City Center during business hours 8am-5pm Mon-Fri.

November 22-23, 2010: SAC Bake Sale, City Center during business hours 8am until sold out daily!

November 4-5, 2010: McManus Comedies Poor Again Dagnabit, Pioneer School multipurpose room, 7:00PM. There will be a free acting workshop for kids by Tim Behrens, call the SAC office for more info 756-2987. See the Fall 2010 page.

August 7, 2010, Saturday: 6th Annual Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival, Island Park, times TBA. The Lionel Young Band and the Mike Bader Band. Gates open at 4:00 pm, music starts at 5:00 pm. See the Summer 2010 page for more info.

Spring 2010

May 15, 2010: 5th Annual Sneak Preview Sponsor’s Gala 2010 7:00pm at the Sacajawea Center. Be the first to preview our upcoming 2010 Season and be a part of the excitement! Reservations required, hors d'oeurves and beverages will be provided. Apr. 23 - May 20, 2010: Student Art Show at the Salmon Valley Center during regular business hours Mondays through Fridays. Come see how our children are expressing themselves!

Apr. 21, 2010: Shakespearience at the Salmon High School gym. It makes such an enormous difference to our students to be able to see Shakespeare as he was intended to be seen and also to have young, enthusiastic people involved in the production. A one hour workshop follows the production. Sponsored by the Salmon Arts Council with funding provided by the Robert Earll McConnell Foundation.

Apr. 3, 2010: Mud Bay Jugglers & the Tune Stranglers. 2 events in one day! 7pm Saturday at the Pioneer School Gymnasium. More details on the Spring 2010 page.

Winter 2010

Feb. 27, 2010: Dennis Stroughmatt et L'Esprit Creole at the Elks Hall 7pm. More details on the Winter 2010 page.

Jan. 25-29: Sheila Parsons Watercolor Workshop, Sacajawea Education Center, an Arts Academy presentation. This 5-day workshop is entitled "Meeting Watercolor Challenges" and is intended for intermediate to advanced artists. To view works by Parsons visit her web www.sparsons.com. Jan.16, 2010: The Improvised Shakespeare Company, rare Elizabethian improv comedy. The performance will be held at the Salmon Valley Center at 7pm. More details on the Winter 2010 page.

Fall 2009

Dec.3-4, 2009: Pianist Extraordinaire, Tien Hsieh. Performance Dec 4th, 7pm at Salmon City Center, School Outreach Program at the Salmon High School Dec 3rd, 10am. More details on the Fall 2009 page. Advance ticket purchase recommended!

Dec 1, 2009 - Jan 6, 2010: Salmon Valley Photography Show, Salmon City Center. Artists must bring your entries to the SAC office before and help hang them Nov 30. We also request you to pick up your entries and help take down the show on Jan 6 from 10am until 4pm. Download the Photographer Application for more information. Open to the public during business hours M-F, 8-5.

Nov. 14th, 2009: Silk Painting/Dye Workshop featuring Deb Gelet. Saturday, 10-4 at Sacajawea's New Learning Center. Students will be producing 2 dyed and painted scarves, one velvet and one silk scarf. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, make a present for the holidays or improve your own artistry. Space is limited so please register by Wednesday, Nov 11th at the Salmon Arts Council office, phone 756-2987, or email salmonartscouncil@gmail.com. Cost is $45 per person.

Nov 7th, 2009: Fall Harvest For The Arts, Wine Tasting and Art Auction, Sacajawea Center New Learning Center building, 6-9pm. More info on the Fall 2009 page.

Oct. 15&16 2009: Kusun Ensemble. Performance at the Pioneer School on the 16th at 7pm, School Outreach Program at the Salmon High School Gym on the 15th. More details on the Fall 2009 page.

Oct. 3, 2009: Adobe Photoshop Workshop with David Marx presented by Salmon Arts Academy. Saturday 9-5 at Salmon Valley Center with a lunch break. You need to bring a laptop computer with Adobe Photoshop installed (free trial available at adobe.com). Download this David_Marx.pdf for more class and biographical information. Visit his web at DavidMarx.com to get a feel for his work. Register soon as it's filling very quickly, limited to 20 participants at $100 with an early 10% registration discount.

Summer 2009

September 14-19, 2009: Missoula Children's Theatre presents "Robinson Crusoe". More details on the Summer 2009 page. Performances are at 3pm and 5:30pm Saturday Sept 19 at the Pioneer School.

Aug. 27, 2009: www.Twang real country concert in cooperation with the Lemhi County Fair and Rodeo, 8pm following the Horse Races. More details on the Summer 2009 page.

Aug. 10, 2009: Art in the Park 12-4pm at City Park (by the Pool). $1.00 per child donation requested. Painting sun-catchers, weaving baskets, sand art, design your own friendship bracelet, mask making and much more! Lemhi Afterschool Promise will provide free meals for kids.

April 22, 2009: Earth Day Community Festival, a Salmon Valley Stewardship production and partnership, Cavaness Park, Salmon, noon - 7:30pm.

April 20 - May 22, 2009: Salmon Student Art Show on display at the Salmon Valley Center during weekday business hours.

April 3 through May 14, 2009: Between Fences… at the Salmon Valley Business Innovation Center brought to us by the Smithsonian Institution and the Idaho Humanities Council, a Museum On Main Street exhibit with a lot of other community coordinated events. See the Spring 2009 page for more info.

Winter 2009

March 10, 2009: Portland Taiko Drummers, at the High School gymnasium 7pm. There will also be a school outreach program, details TBA. Awesome! See Winter 2009 page and their web site PortlandTaiko.org for more information.

February 28, 2009: “Celebration of the Human Spirit” Humanities dance presented by the Arts Academy, 7pm at the High School multipurpose room. See the Winter 2009 page for more info.

January 30, 2009: Annual Membership Meeting, Annual Report and Social, Salmon City Center, 6:30pm. Live music, beverages, and free cd's!

Fall 2008

December 20, 2008: Arts Academy Christmas Dance Recital! Come by and see our local little ones dance to Christmas favorites. 6:00 pm Salmon City Center. There will also be a performance at the Discovery Care Center, details TBA.

November 25 - 26, 2008: Our annual Bake Sale Fundraiser! Drop by and buy some home made goodies and be sure to check out our kids table, too! Kids baking for kids. Salmon City Center 8:00 am – till sold out. Both days so come early for the best choices!

November 25-December 31, 2008: Salmon Valley Photography Show, Salmon Valley Center during business hours weekdays 8am-5pm. People’s Choice Awards, come by to vote for your favorites!

November 12-13, 2008: Kenny Carnes, “Pieces of War” one man show Nov. 12 7:30PM Elks Hall honoring Veteran’s Day. Free workshop for veterans and their families on Nov 13, location TBA. More details coming soon on the Fall 2008 page.

September 22-27, 2008: Missoula Children’s Theatre “The Little Mermaid”, Pioneer School. More details on the Fall 2008 page.

Summer 2008

September 13, 2008: Salmon Marathon, New South Fork Bluegrass concert, Island Park. 140 runners have already signed up! More info can be found on the Summer 2008 page.

August 25, 2008. Montana Shakespeare in the Parks featuring All’s Well That Ends Well. This performance will be FREE to the public! 6PM Island Park. More details are available here: Montana Schakespeare in the Parks web site.

August 10, 2008. Garage Band Blow Out! Saturday, 7:30PM Island Park. Our regional band musicians perform for the public! Organized by Dagny Deutchman, student Board member extraordinaire!

August 2, 2008, Smokin’ On The River of No Return Blues, Brews, and BBQ featuring the Charles Walker Blues Band and Joan Zen, Island Park. BBQ provided by Salmon Hockey Association. More details are on the Summer 2008 page.

July 15-19, 2008: Summer Dance Workshop taught by University of Idaho Alumni, Emily Anglin and Andrea Sheridan for ages 12 and up. See the Summer 2008 page for more details! A Salmon Arts Academy educational experience!

July 4, 2008: The Rough Stock Band FREE concert and dance, details on the Summer 2008 page.

July 3-5, 2008: Lemhi Piecemakers Annual Quilt Show, Salmon Valley Center during business hours. Come see these beautiful pieces!

June 27-July 30, 2008: Salmon Valley Art Show, Salmon Valley Center. Enjoy the show during weekday business hours. Free to the public! Your votes count for prizes given to artists.

June 24, 12:30-3PM, and July 23, 2008: Art in the Park, 11AM to 1:30PM at the Sacajawea Interpretive Center. Face Painting, Yarn Bsket Weaving, Self-hardening Clay, Beading, Sand Art, Looms, Botanical Art, Bone Painting, Tie-Dye (extra cost $1.50). Cost is $5 per child for all activities. Any artists with ideas and supplies who want to be with the kids are welcome, call 756-2721. June 27-July 30, 2008
