MT Shakespeare In The Parks - The Tempest

The Tempest, which is believed to be the last play Shakespeare wrote by himself and also his farewell to the world of the theatre, is a dense, rich story of revenge and forgiveness that immediately grabs us and hurls us into a fascinating world filled with spirits and imaginative characters. As Prospero, with help from his trusted spirit Ariel, uses his wizardry to plan revenge on those who deposed him from his dukedom years before. The play ultimately ends with Prospero forgiving all as he buries his magic books and returns to his native land. The role of Prospero will be played by MSIP veteran Gordon Carpenter who first toured with the company in 1983.

“Initially what attracted me to this play was Prospero’s journey from revenge to forgiveness particularly set in the context of this being one of the last plays that Shakespeare wrote,” says Artistic Director Joel Jahnke, who will direct the show. “The idea that this is his goodbye to the theatre is certainly tempting and I find those particular passages compelling and very touching. I want to draw heavily on The Pirates of the Caribbean for inspiration because I think the swashbuckling characters in that film are a perfect fit for this ‘seafarers in jeopardy’ story as well as The Lord of the Rings, particularly for its creation of a world of magical characters within a realistic framework. ” An enthralling tale, complete with fantastical plot twists and sweet romance, ends, as all the best tales do: with hope and forgiveness.

The Charles Walker Band is a 5 piece band that performs various styles of Blues, R&B and funk with precision and energy. What adds to the band uniqueness, apart from award winning musicians (together for 5 years), is the richness of the original material. As one critic said, “Real edge of your seat, power wire blues.” A quote from Noggin Blues Matters! Magazine describes them best, “...we are treated to the full panoply of Blues styles, great tunes, intelligent lyrics, and superb instrumentation throughout.”

Twang, Real CountryTwang Country

Southwest Montana's Most Country country western dance band, www.Twang offers up real country music with a big fat dance groove. None of that smarmy, whiny, country that comes out of Nashville these days, but the real deal, old-time honky-tonk country: the way we play it for the cowboys here in the Northern Rockies!

Truck songs, bad chick tunes, cowboy, drinkin', carousin', cheatin', road house tunes.

That's why www.Twang is the favorite for live country dance music from Livingston to Belgrade, Bozeman to Big Sky, Gateway to Bridger, Miles City to Manhattan. Join Buck Buchanan, John Regan, Sandy Dodge, Jim Lewis, and Russ Olsen for a rompin', stompin', can't sit still, get off your pants and dance good time. This is real country music: accept no substitutes! For more info visit their web site www.twang.org.
